A Lesson in Matthew.

In Sunday school early in the month Maria's Sunday School teacher gave her a seed to plant. We used her special seed planting set from kindergarten and loved how well we could see the roots growing. So we decided to do a little lesson on Matthew 13:3-8 and19-23. About the seeds and the soil.
All of the kids helped  me with  drawing in this lesson and the photos aren't the best. But I think it can still be seen clear enough to get the drift.
Maria drew the farmer dropping the seeds:

 
 This picture represents the seeds that fell on the footpath and were eaten by the birds ( representing those that hear the good word but don't understand it and the evil one snatches the seed away from their hearts)

This picture represents the seeds that fell on rocky soil and grew up quickly but soon wilted in the sun because the roots did not go deep and there was no nourishment for the plant to grow ( representing those that receive the message with joy and at first they get along fine but as they go along and come to hard times they wilt in their faith.

This picture represents that seeds that fell among the thorns that choked out the small blades (representing those that accept the message but all too soon it is crowded out by the cares of this life)

And this picture represents the seed that fell on the fertile and well cared for soil and grew well and with deep roots. (The good soil represents the hearts that truly accept God's message and produce a huge harvest.)

Here is a photo of Maria's seedling with excellent roots that go down deep.

I drew a picture of an apple tree to show how if we keep the message (Or seed) well cared for, well watered then we will bear fruit in the same way that an apple tree would.
What are the fruits that we can sow in our lives. The fruits of the spirit - we went and found a couple songs about the fruits of the spirit online and Maria loved that. I'll try and go more into the fruits of the spirit next week.
